MOS photo: karta pobytu requirements 2026

From 27 April 2026, all karta pobytu applications (temporary, permanent and EU resident) are filed exclusively online through the MOS portal at mos.cudzoziemcy.gov.pl. The MOS system automatically validates your photo — if the dimensions or file format don't match, the application will be rejected.

Official photo requirements:
  • File format: JPG only
  • Dimensions: minimum 684×883 px
  • File size: no larger than 2.5 MB
  • Photo age: taken within the last 6 months
  • Background: light and even, no shadows
  • Face fills 70–80% of the frame, eyes at equal distance from the top and bottom
  • Look straight at the camera: neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open
  • No glasses, no headwear, hair must not cover the face
  • Sharp and in focus, natural skin tone, undamaged

The most common reasons for rejection are incorrect pixel dimensions, an oversized file, or a background with shadows. This tool fixes all three: it resizes the image, compresses it below the file size limit, and replaces the background with a perfectly clean white if needed.
